Last Wednesday morning a devastating fire blazed through an animal shelter in the Canadian city of Toronto. Fire chiefs suspect that mice or rats were to blame after chewing through electrical wires in the ceiling. In total nearly 100 cats were killed as were three dogs and some rats up for adoption. “It’s unfortunate and ironic that mice caused the fire that killed the cats,” Ian McConachie, the Toronto Humane Society spokesman told the BBC.
